IOFS IMPLEMENTS PROACTIVE MEASURES TO ADDRESS FOOD SECURITY CHALLENGES

Zhanna Shayakhmetova, editor of Astana Times, wrote an article in one of the major English language news sources of Kazakhstan https://astanatimes.com/ devoted to the Islamic organization for Food security activities.

An article based on the interview conducted with IOFS Director General H.E. Mr. Yerlan A.Baidaulet and provides insight into the IOFS 10-year strategy which was adopted  at its Fourth General Assembly in Nur-Sultan in 2021.
Furthermore, the article reviews briefly a historical background of the organisation which is an institutional body of the OICand  has the same status as its bodies such Islamic Development Bank and the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO).

IOFS despite the Covid -19 pandemic realized plenty of important events, including 28 events and activities with participation of more than 10 countries. Currently an organisation has increased its activities, initiated 10-year’s strategic vision 2031 to implement 16 programs related to the food security governance, food crisis response, capacity building, industry development, and resource mobilization.
 
IOFS Director General highlighted in the article that Kazakhstan gains benefits of having headquarter of the institution in its capital. IOFS facilitates cooperation of Kazakh stakeholders with different partners around the Islamic world. Additionally, the government of Kazakhstan earned knowledge in the sphere of managing food security on the government level, developing multilateral activities in the humanitarian field through the IOFS platform.
