IOFS AND AOAD DISCUSS MUTUAL COLLABORATION

On 24 February 2022, a technical virtual meeting was held between the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) and the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD), represented by Dr. Karan Abadi, Adviser on Agricultural Economics of the Director General of AOAD, to exchange views on activating the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in August 2019. The IOFS was represented by Dr. Ismail Abdelhamid, IOFS Director of Programmes and Projects Office, Mr. Abdula Manafi Mutualo, IOFS Senior Liaison Officer, along with Mr. Abu Husain Mohammad Kamruzzaman, IOFS Program Manager.
 
After all necessary deliberations, the meeting agreed that an initiative in a form of conference or workshop in the field of transboundary plant pests and animal disease control was the suitable starting point for implementing the aforesaid MoU with the venue of the same being given to Sub-Saharan OIC Member States within the celebration of 2022 is “IOFS Year of Africa”.
 
It should be mentioned here that IOFS and AOAD intend to continue consultations remotely and/or in-person towards defining other areas of activities that would be jointly implemented, including on water management, biotechnology, rural agricultural development, etc so as to consolidate both Organization’s bilateral cooperation.
