IOFS participated in the Virtual Meeting on the Food Security Issues

On March 28, 2022 the Director General of the Islamic Organization of Food Security (IOFS) H.E.Mr. Yerlan Baidaulet participated in an online meeting held by Kazakh National Agrarian Research University (KazNARU) named “Legislative support of the issues stated by the Head of State Kassym-Jomart K.Tokayev in the Address of March 16, 2022 on food security issues”.
The meeting was conducted to follow-up on matters presented by Kassym-Jomart Tokayev delivered in the State-of-the-Nation Address to the People of Kazakhstan. Particularly, participants discussed the urgency of identifying emergencies to provide social safety nets and humanitarian assistance to stabilize food insecurity situations especially triggered by the Russian-Ukrainian crisis as food and energy price rises.
IOFS Director General during the meeting provided an overview on IOFS key strategic vision, activities and mission. Other highlights included discussing Innovative Agriculture Approaches to pave the way for promoting strong and resilient food systems to tackle the various challenges confronting lives and livelihood, and also discussed significant deterioration in food security that has been extremely exacerbated by the consequences of the pandemic, climate challenge and Ukrainian crisis.
H.E.Mr. Yerlan Baidaulet emphasized the key role of the IOFS in the OIC system in terms of organizing efforts to respond to food crises, providing best practices and deepening cooperation in a number of areas of food security and agricultural development.
