FINAL DAY OF THE IOFS STRATEGIC COMMODITIES AND FOOD SAFETY FORUM IN QATAR

On February 16, 2022 IOFS concluded Strategic Commodities and Food Safety Forum in Doha.

The three-day conference embraces leading analysts, experts and participants of agro-industrial sectors to discuss wide range of issues in nutrition and Food Safety correlation, sustainable Halal food security ecosystem, concepts of Halal food and the standards regulating them, food safety net and its interaction with gene to fork traceability, role of agriculture in food safety promotion in OIC Countries and agreed on the need to deepen cooperation to strengthen food systems and food security, by advancing sustainable and equitable projects and policies.
The IOFS was joined by its Director General HE Mr. Yerlan A. Baidaulet who provided updates on how to pursue IOFS’ agenda on sustainable food safety, healthy food and nutrition to eradicate of hunger and poverty in member countries and noted that food safety requires shared responsibility and collaboration among all member countries.
Director General presented his view on implementing IOFS Food Safety and Healthy Food Program through using the “Gene to Fork” modality which aims to support future growth in the OIC geography to enable access to safe and healthy food, as well as through realising a value chain approach in the research and implementation activities, including interaction of science and data on natural resource use and environmental impacts.
Director General HE Mr. Yerlan A. Baidaulet expressed confidence that IOFS will contribute to Member State’s economic recovery in the post-pandemic future and highlighted that through a common agenda on this session’s theme, OIC countries would achieve a better and more comfortable quality of life.
