IOFS’s virtual meeting with the Vice Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan

On 3 February 2022, H.E. Mr. Yerlan Baidaulet, the Director General of the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) held a virtual meeting with H.E. Mr. Zhenis Oserbay, the Vice Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, who is also a member of the IOFS Executive Board.

During the discussion, both sides reviewed Afghanistan's ongoing acute humanitarian situation, as well as ways and opportunities to support Afghanistan as an IOFS/OIC member state. Parties noted that in order to prevent such situations in future, required actions should be done in this area, including the use of the Food Security Reserves' capability as a systematic measure.

The progress of the IOFS' strategic programs, such as the Grain Fund and initiatives to support the livestock industry in member states, was also reviewed during the meeting. They also emphasized the importance of adopting the Joint action plan for 2022, as soon as possible, during the Republic of Kazakhstan's Chairmanship in the IOFS General Assembly.

In conclusion, parties agreed on the need for regular meetings to coordinate joint efforts and monitor the effective implementation of the decisions taken.

Mr. Daulet Yemberdiev, Director of Country & Protocol Office, and Mr. Azamat Khamiyev, Program Manager, both from the IOFS Secretariat, were also present at the meeting.
