SESRIC-IOFS Task Force Hold First Meeting

Pursuant to relevant mandate stated in the Resolution adopted by the 8th Ministerial Conference on Food Security & Agricultural Development, held on 25-27 October in Istanbul, Republic of Turkey, a Team of Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC), led by Mr. Mazhar Hussain, Director of Economic and Social Research, met virtually with a Team of the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) led by Dr. Ismail Abdelhamid, Director of Programmes and Projects Office, to kick start consultations of the SESRIC-IOFS Task Force to materialize the mandate of jointly producing an analytical comprehensive study in the in the domains of agricultural resources, food production and trade.
 
The meeting, inter alia, decided that the initial outline of the study under reference is to be jointly prepared for consideration by the 2nd SESRIC-IOFS Task Force meeting to be held in the last week of January 2022.
 
Taking advantage of the meeting, the Task Force reviewed the existing bilateral Memorandum of Understanding to agree that some projects may be mutually approved to be implemented by the two Institutions of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in 2022, particularly in regards to technical bilateral cooperation in the domain of environment, agriculture, and water management for which capacity building initiatives may be initiated by the benefit of Member States with special focus in Africa.
