Secretary General of TURKPA visited the IOFS headquarters

On November 22, the IOFS Director General Yerlan A. Baidaulet received the newly appointed Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-speaking Countries (TurkPA), Mr. Mehmet Süreyya Er.

H.E.Mr. Baidaulet conveyed the warmest congratulations on the appointment of H.E.Mr. Mehmet Süreyya Er and expressed willingness to strengthen cooperation and partnership at all levels.

The Director General gave a brief presentation about Organization's structure, Strategy, and Programs execution progress, also noted the significant role of the TurkPA aimed at strengthening relations between the Turkic-speaking countries in the political, cultural and economic spheres.

The Secretary General of TurkPA in his turn, expressed gratitude for a warm reception bestowed upon TurkPA team and highlighted importance of IOFS's active efforts in ensuring sustainable food security in member countries and welcomed satisfaction towards new impetus given to cooperation between organisations.

TurkPA - Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic Speaking Countries was established on 21 November 2008 by the Istanbul Agreement signed by the Heads of Parliaments of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Republic of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, and the Republic of Turkey in Istanbul in order to develop and strengthen inter-parliamentary cooperation among the Member States.

During the meeting, parties expressed their determination for close cooperation and agreed to sign a Memorandum of understanding to reinforce the cooperation between the Turkic-speaking countries within the framework of the IOFS, which will positively affect the bilateral relations of the TurkPA member countries.
