On 23 October 2021, the Director-General of IOFS H.E., Mr. Yerlan A. Baidaulet, met with the Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation H.E. Dr. Mohamed Abdel Aty. The meeting started with an appreciation of a hosting side for the active participation of IOFS in Cairo Water Week by the H.E. Director-General in the plenary session for the situation of water scarce regions and other discussions.  IOFS Director General gave a short brief on the water management on agriculture program such as the training workshop on Water Hub. In this training, water specialists from Central Asia Member Countries participated physically. African Member Countries participated online and got hands-on training on the current water management program developed by KAZNARU university.  Both parties agreed on the importance of extending such prime essential training next year. H.E. Minister of water resources and irrigation stressed new technologies related to water recycling and how they could be transferred to other Member Countries and stressed that the Ministry is building a database for the water experts.

In the end, H.E. IOFS Director General and H.E. Minister of water resources and irrigation agreed to prepare an MOU and Action Plan to cover all areas of interest.


On the same day, the Director General of IOFS H.E., Mr. Yerlan A. Baidaulet, met with The Ministry of Agriculture H.E., Mr. Mohamed El Quseir.

The meeting was held under continuous cooperation between the organization and the Ministry of agriculture. IOFS Director General appreciates the participation of Egypt in the 4th General assembly held last September. The meeting extended by presenting an overview of the IOFS Strategic Vision 2031 and all areas of common interest between both parties, especially strategic commodities and gene banks. H.E. IOFS Director General gave a brief on the activities related to food safety and halal food under From Gene To Fork modality. In this regard, the H.E. Minister of Agriculture announced a specialized Egyptian company that works on the Halal food export. Talking about the IOFS livestock ecosystem, the Ministry of Agriculture will review the IOFS proposal on the development of this sector and its impact on medium and small-scale farmers. More cooperation between IOFS and the Ministry of agriculture will be conducted, and MOU will be signed between the two parties in the short term.

H.E. Kairat Lama Sharif, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Egypt and the local Embassy staff as well as Dr. Ismail Abdelhamid, Director of Programs at IOFS, have participated in both meetings.
