FAO praises food security level in Bangladesh

On May 28, 2021, the Director-General of FAO, H.E. Mr Qu Dongyu praised the Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for effective management of food security in one of the most populous countries in the world. 

The Bangladesh Ambassador to Italy, Mr Md. Shameem Ahsan presented the Letter of Credence at the virtual ceremony and was accredited as the Permanent Representative. Mr Ahsan expressed appreciation to FAO for its valuable contribution to the development of agriculture, food security and farm productivity of Bangladesh in the last 40 years. At the session, he was nominated a co-chair of the “One Health Global Leaders Group on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR)” by the Director-General. 

Mr Qu Dongyu and Mr Ahsan are to take part in the 36th Asia Pacific FAO Regional Conference (APRC) on 8-11 March 2022 in Bangladesh.
