Director-General of IOFS meets the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Republic of Kazakhstan
13 October 2020

On October 13, Director-General of IOFS Mr. Yerlan Baidaulet convened a meeting with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Republic of Kazakhstan Mr. Abdulaziz Abdullah A. Aldawood. It must be noted that Saudi Arabia earnestly supports the Islamic Organization for Food Security and plays a crucial role in its institutionalisation. In 2019, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia graciously hosted the Second General Assembly. The esteemed member state continues to be closely involved with the activities of IOFS and chairs the Executive Board.

Director-General expressed gratitude to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for paying the voluntary contributions and noted how critical the Kingdom’s involvement is for the food security in the region. H.E. Mr. Abdulaziz Abdullah A. Aldawood demonstrated a keen interest in the programs of IOFS and paid special attention to the ‘Water Management in Agriculture’ program, marking its particular relevance in the dry areas of the OIC region. The Ambassador also focused on the humanitarian programs of IOFS, as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia helps relentlessly the Islamic world in the conflict-affected areas. His Excellency also expressed interest in the partners of IOFS, such as FAO, World Food Programme, OIC institutions, etc.

The meeting was exceptionally informative and constructive. The Islamic Organization for Food Security hopes that Saudi Arabia will maintain a strong presence in the IOFS work and continue its further support.
