General Assembly: Delegation of Islamic Development Bank

Director General of Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) Mr. Yerlan Baidaulet expressed His gratitude to the delegation of Islamic Development Bank Group (IsDB) headed by His Excellency, Dr. Mansur Muhtar, Vice President of Islamic Development Bank Group Country Programs for participating in the IOFS General Assembly. In the delegation were also present IsDB Lead Global MGMT Rural Development Specialist, Momodou Lamin Ceesay and IsDB Senior Rural Development Specialist, Umar I. Kamarah.
Director General outlined that IsDB could be one of the key partners of IOFS. Having been in the Islamic Finance Industry for many years, Director General had developed strong personal and business connections at IsDB. Thanks to this legacy, he understands the necessity of a fruitful relationship between the organizations. Both parties have also agreed for IOFS to remain out of politics, as the issue of food security transcends politics.
Therefore, the Resolutions that have been adopted by the IOFS General Assembly are very important in terms of institutionalization and as a starting point. During latest meetings of General Director with IsDB officials, it was agreed that IsDB may assist IOFS in building good relationships with international organizations overseas on matters of food security and safety. Parties also agreed to develop a bilateral agreement on partnership that could be beneficial for both sides. For the time being, MoU draft had already been sent to IsDB for consideration.
MoU may lay foundation for commencing collaborative technical work on a country level and establishing nexus of business contacts and focal points in different regions. Parties also agreed for IsDB to obtain status of an observer of IOFS and facilitate IsDB technical crops programs (rice, wheat and cotton). Islamic Organization for Food Security is prerapared to participate and provide technical assistance in all programs of Islamic Development Bank Group that are devoted to nutrition and food supply. Parties agreed to coordinate in development of social programs on agricultural sustainability, food security, scientific researche and other.
