THE IOFS HOLDS SEVERAL HIGH LEVEL MEETINGS DURING ITS OFFICIAL VISIT TO THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA

During the first day of the official visit of IOFS to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, H.E. Prof. Yerlan Baidaulet, Director General of IOFS, had a working meeting with Prof. Mrs. Veronica A. Obatolu, Executive Director of the Institute of Agricultural Research and Training of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, during this meeting Prof. Veronica gave an update on the main activities carried out by her institution, particularly in terms of animal production and the development of strategic crops in Nigeria, on his part H.E. Prof. Baidaulet, briefly presented the activities of the various programs which are led by the various program directors, at the end of this productive meeting the two parties agreed to continue discussions to set up a bilateral cooperation program which will be focused on the genetic improvement of animal resources and plants, the development of animal production, as well as the development of value chain.

His Excellency the Director General of the IOFS, also met with the First Vice President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), H.E. Mr. Alhaji Farouk Suleiman, where the two officials reviewed the situation of trade in agricultural products within OIC member countries, on his part H.E DG informed his interlocutor of the role that IFPA could play in terms of trade development and partnership, as well as boosting investments, he has by the same occasion invite NACCIMA to join IFPA in order to take advantage of the advantages it presents this Islamic platform. The meeting positively resulted with NACCIMA signing an IFPA Honorary Membership Agreement.

H.E. Director General paid a visit to DAR AL HALAL, which is an advisory, consultancy, trade and investment company, with objective to promote Halal Trade in Nigeria and between the 56 OIC member states, and operating to open Nigeria to the global halal economy, this visit represented a good opportunity to discuss ways and means to develop Halal production and commerce between the two institution. In sideline of this meeting, H.E. MUHAMMADU DIKKO LADAN, CEO, Dar Al Halal Nigeria Limited, gave a presentation of main activities of this eminent institution and its main vision, on his part Prof. Baidaulet presented a brief overview about the principal efforts made by the IOFS to growing the Halal industry and the value chain within the OIC/IOFS MC’s, while emphasizing the upcoming activities that the IOFS expects to carry out in order to developing the market for Halal products in partnership with its potential partners.

Throughout the meetings, H.E. Director General was accompanied by Mr. Sofian Ben Mouaddeb, Senior Country Manager at the IOFS.
