IOFS WELCOMES A NEW SECRETARIAT MEMBER

Islamic Organisation for Food Security Secretariat is very pleased to announce a new member of the team - Mr. Said Hussein Iid, we are delighted to welcome him as a Special Envoy of IOFS in Africa.

Mr. Said Hussein Iid is a seasoned professional with extensive 25 years’ experience in Senior Government position as well as private sector. He specializes in Agriculture and Livestock development, Business management, Policy and regulatory development, Rural economic development among others. 

Mr. Said Hussein Iid’s broad regional and global experience includes working as a Minister of Livestock, Forestry and Range of the Federal Republic of Somalia from 2015 to 2017, taking position of a Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation of the Federal Republic of Somalia from 2017 to August, 2022. From 2016 to 2021 he acted as an elected Member of the Federal Parliament of Somalia.

Between 2017 - 2020 Mr. Said Hussein Iid was a member of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) Governing Council representing Somalia. From 2017 till the present he has been acting as a Voting member of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization General Meeting. Mr. Said Hussein Iid’s impressive career experience includes work for the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD), the Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Dry Lands (ACSAD), the Board of Directors of the East Africa University.
 
Mr. Said Hussein Iid is holder of MBA degree in Healthcare Management & Marketing and currently is continuing PhD research at the United Nations University for Peace in Mogadishu, Somalia. Mr. Said Hussein Iid will work closely with IOFS projects in Africa as a Special Envoy to address food security related issues.
 
We are sure that Mr. Said Hussein Iid’s dedication and extensive professional experience in introducing and working on multiple agricultural and livestock policies, scaling-up capacities in terms of surveillance and control operations in plant protection, implementation of numerous agriculture programmes and rural economic development will contribute to IOFS activities in Africa as well as within the entire OIC geography.
