On 11 September, 2022 the delegation of Islamic Organization for Food Security leading by H.E Prof. Yerlan A. Baidaulet started a working visit to the Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia marked with several important bilateral meetings.
The first day was highlighted by the meeting with the Acting Director-General of the Union of News Agencies (UNA), a specialized organ of the OIC, H.E Mr. Mohammed Abd Rabbo Al-Yami.
During the meeting parties discussed avenues for close cooperation between two institutions, particularly within the UNA’s role in fostering international media relations among OIC Member States.
The UNA Acting Director-General briefly discussed about activity of the news agency which provides news publishing in Arabic, English and French that focuses on news to develop close and better relations between member states in the Information field aimed at promoting contacts and technical cooperation between the news agencies of OIC countries.
Parties expressed willingness to enhance cooperation between organizations, especially in light of upcoming IOFS 5th General Assembly agreed to sign MoU to jointly work within the framework of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and its objectives.
Aside from that, H.E Dr. Ahmad Mohamed Ali Al-Madani, the First President of the Islamic Development Bank and the initial founder of this OIC institution, warmly received H.E Prof. Yerlan A. Baidaulet.
IOFS Director General provided an overview of the key value proposition of IOFS and ongoing achievements of the Organization over the past 3 years, elaborated on the implementation of the IOFS humanitarian projects on the Afghanistan Food Security Programme and activities under the “Year of Africa” Program.
In turn, H.E Ahmed Mohammed Ali emphasized the importance that the IOFS attaches to developing food security among member countries, and shared views on enhancing food security and agriculture, assured in his readiness to advise IOFS Secretariat on many strategic issues.
