World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2022 at Davos gives a room to expand cooperation between World Economic Forum (WEF) and Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI). Sides signed a mutual agreement on establishing of the Global Platform for Food Innovation Hubs.

The Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives is a philanthropic foundation based in the United Arab Emirates is aiming to create Food Innovation Hubs initiatives to facilitate food system transformation and innovation to improve sustainable food production mechanisms, scientific and research opportunities in the field of food, and support national strategies to achieve and enhance food security. Thereupon MBRGI joined the Steering Committee of WEF’s Food Innovation Hubs.

Secretary General of MBRGI Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi noted that tackling food challenges demands innovative approaches to generate advanced solutions, MBRGI is one of the major regional body that is enable eradicate hunger and malnutrition aimed at providing less developed communities with food assistance.

For her part, the UAE Minister of Climate Change and Environment Mariam Almheiri with reference to the UAE National Food Security Strategy 2051 remarked that comprehensive national food ecosystem requires applying smart technology across the value chain and enhancing research capabilities, the MBRGI-WEF joint project meets these demands to advance food security on the regional and global scale.
