On November 3, Director General of IOFS Mr. Yerlan Baidaulet took part in AAOIFI-WB Conference, Edition 14 named as “Revolutionary Changes in Global Islamic Finance Ecosystem: Need for Governance, Standardization and Regulatory Support” in Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain. In his speech, Mr. Baidaulet spoke about history and mission of the Islamic Organization for Food Security, and the necessity to develop joint food passage between CIS and other Muslim countries. Mr. Baidaulet also encouraged thinking beyond issuing Sukuk and commodity trading, and examining food security issues in long-term perspective.
One of the ways to achieve long-term and sustainable food security in Muslim countries is through joint agricultural market and unified halal food, which implies not only meat but also natural products without harmful, GMO components.
During the 14th AAOIFI-WB Conference, Director General held a meeting with the President of Islamic Development Bank Group Dr. Bandar Hajjar and reached an agreement to sign a comprehensive Cooperation Framework Agreement in near future.
On the sidelines of the event, Director General was interviewed by the Russian information agency “TASS” on prospects of halal market development in Russia.
