On February 23, 2022 the Director General of the IOFS H.E. Yerlan A. Baidaulet met with the Ambassador of Turkmenistan, H.E. Mr. Rejepov Batyr.
Director General and Ambassador emphasized the special relationship between IOFS and the Government of Turkmenistan, particularly acknowledging recent fruitful meeting with the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan H.E. Mr. Rashid Meredov, settling the issue of Turkmenistan membership in the IOFS on the sidelines of the Ashgabat conference "Policy of peace and trust - the basis of international security, stability and development" on December 2021.
IOFS Director General H.E. Yerlan Baidaulet elaborated on the implementation of the IOFS humanitarian projects on Afghanistan Food Security Programme and activities under the “Year of Africa” Program. Director General also emphasized ongoing efforts of Turkmen experts in IOFS’s projects to address shared challenges within Action Plans for Strategic Commodities such as grain, developing OIC Food Security Reserves, and expressed strong mutual commitment to developing further collaboration with active engagement of Turkmen experts, institutions, private sector representatives in fulfilling IOFS strategic program goals.
Parties explored facilitating Turkmenistan's membership in IOFS through discussing membership procedures, amount of mandatory contributions, benefits and obligations of the membership and expressed mutual hope to prompt settle of the Turkmenistan accession to the IOFS.
