The second day of the ICECS conference

On January 12, 2022, the second day of the ICECS conference at the OIC Headquarters, the IOFS delegation worked on the joint coordination of submitted documents, including reports and draft resolutions. On the first half of the day, while discussing separate resolutions of the IOFS activities within economic block documentations, the Director General of the IOFS HE Mr. Yerlan Baidaulet delivered a separate speech, the text of which was later provided in paper copies to all participants of the working conference.

Over a long working day, Director General held a substantive meeting with Dr. Saleh Hamad Alsuhaibani, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) to the OIC. Parties discussed the interaction of the IOFS Secretariat with the KSA government to implement ongoing strategic programs through considering national interests of the KSA, to support such important international initiatives with participation of KSA, as Afghanistan Food Security Program, Year of Africa, Grain Fund, and IFPA. The Saudi representative showed particular interest to develop bilateral cooperation in the "Saudi Green Initiative", IOFS Livestock Ecosystem and Adahi Project. The parties agreed on further direct interaction on the entire range of working issues.

The following meetings also took place: 1) with Ambassador Mr. Ali M.Buhedma, President of ICIC, where the parties agreed on close cooperation within the framework of AFSP and the signing of a joint Memorandum and Action Plan in the shortest possible time; 2) Ambassador Mr. Shadi El Sharkawy, Permanent Representative of ARE to the OIC and 3) Mrs. Fatma Alzahraa Abdelkawy, Director for Policy and Inter-governmental Support of the Women Development Organization (new specialized OIC institution), were discussed strengthening of bilateral cooperation with Egypt on joint activities, incl. in Africa, and establishing interaction with the new structure of the OIC, together with which the IOFS is ready to work within the framework of ongoing programs to support women farmers in the OIC countries.

As part of the current event, the Secretary General of the OIC, Ambassador Mr. Hissein Brahim Taha addressed the conference participants, participating countries and organizations of the OIC. The text will be posted on our website later.
