IOFS will set the tone for the development of vertical farming in its member countries, and particularly in Kazakhstan. The representatives of the Japanese Nagashima Holdings, a company working with vertical farming technologies, arrived on a working trip to Kazakhstan to see the country’s capabilities. Notably, Kazakhstan has the three main ingredients to vertical farming: aluminum production, plastic production and the necessary chemical compounds.

On Jan. 19, the Japanese delegation visited IOFS headquarters, seeking to establish cooperation with IOFS in this regard. The company has the most advanced vertical farming technology, which allows for diminishing two-fold the time of tissue cultures growing. The process that takes 30-50 days can be sped up, which will lead to the growth in production volumes. This is achieved without losing the quality of the finished product.

The company also works with genetic material, determining the best, most resilient and tasty tissue culture samples and trying to replicate their genetic code.

H.E. Director General Yerlan Baidaulet expressed great interest in establishing cooperation with Nagashima Holdings, highlighting the interest IOFS takes in such state-of-the-art technologies. He invited the company to attend the IOFS High-Level Forum in mid-June and prepare a presentation on their activities. The Director General highlighted that participating in the forum will facilitate exporting their technologies to OIC member-states.
