The Nigerian government, as articulated by Minister of State for Environment Dr. Iziaq Salako, asserts its commitment to ensuring that biotechnology solutions in the country are grounded in scientific evidence, ethical deployment, safe application, and freedom of choice. At the Biotechnology and Biosafety Stakeholders Forum in Abuja, Salako urged Nigerians to trust the Nigeria Biosafety Management Agency (NBMA) and emphasized the government's dedication to regulating modern biotechnology and providing biosecurity. He called for collaboration, information sharing, and expert opinion to support NBMA's regulatory functions and promote informed dialogue on biotechnology deployment.

Stressing the importance of biosafety, Salako assured that all stakeholders would be heard, and biosafety would contribute positively to food security, climate resilience, healthcare, and economic stability. Meanwhile, Dr. Agnes Asabgra, Director General of NBMA, highlighted the forum's significance as a platform for knowledge sharing, partnership forging, and decision-making to harness modern biotechnology's potentials while mitigating risks. Asabgra emphasized the agency's commitment to providing a robust regulatory framework to safeguard human health, the environment, and biodiversity from potential adverse effects of modern biotechnology.

She underscored NBMA's dedication to ensuring the safe application of biotechnology and overseeing genetically modified organisms (GMOs) to prevent adverse impacts. Notably, stakeholders, including the Minister of State for Health Dr. Tunji Alausa and the National President of All Farmers Association in Nigeria Mr. Kabir Ibrahim, expressed support for safe modern biotechnology practices, emphasizing the importance of biosafety, food security, and sustainable agricultural productivity.
