Humanitarian Operations Manager

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

Mandatory requirements:

  • Being a citizen of a member country of the Islamic Organization for Food Security.
  • 3-4 years of work experience in international organizations in the sphere of humanitarian operations (OCHA, WFP, etc.)
  • To have a degree in any of the following: International Relations, Political Science, Diplomatic Studies, or any related subjects. Having a Master’s degree is a must, Doctorate degree is preferred, combined with extensive experience
  • Immediate availability to work in conflict zones, with the ability to travel extensively and work in challenging environments.

    Additional requirements:

    • Proven experience in planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of political affairs and strategies, program management, financial management and sustainability
    • Experience in a collaborative approach to partnership in a cross-cultural context with strong problem-solving abilities
    • Practical knowledge and understanding of ambassadorial and stakeholder management.
    • Charity or not-for-profit sector experience.
    • Demonstrate experience successfully managing high-value projects from international agencies
    • Publications on agricultural aspects and/or international public relations
    • Fluency in the official languages of the organization: English, French, Arabic.

EXPERIENCES
at least 3-4 years of work experience in international organizations in the sphere of humanitarian operations (OCHA, WFP, etc.)
PUBLICATIONS
To have several publications on agricultural aspects and/or international public relations
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Respond promptly and effectively to emergency situations that require immediate travel to conflict and emergency zones. This may include traveling to areas affected by natural disasters, political unrest, or armed conflict
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the political, social, and economic conditions in the regions of responsibility
  • Provide managerial oversight of the program portfolio for the projects of the Member States of IOFS/OIC.
  • Manage and mitigate risk through monitoring national and regional issues that may impact staff and programming
  • Ensure all project/program strategies and work plans are developed and implemented according to the plan and commitments
  • Specify internal governance policies and regularly monitor compliance
  • Apply effective risk management techniques and offer proactive advice on possible risk issues
  • Deal with complex matters with multiple stakeholders and forces
  • Conduct your work with integrity and responsibility
  • Effectively manage and supervise. Manage team dynamics and staff.

  • Full comprehension of the influences of the external environment of a corporation.
  • Demonstrate ability to create proactive strategies.
