
CONTEXT
The IOFS Program “Food Security Governance” had the unanimous support of member states within the 3rd General Assembly meeting of IOFS on 2-3 December 2020 in Ankara, Turkey, as well as further emphasized its implementation within the 4th General Assembly meeting of IOFS on 8-9 September 2021 in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan.
By implementing this program, IOFS is intended to:
TRAINING WORKSHOP
Following the implementation of the IOFS Strategic Vision 2031, the IOFS Secretariat continues the series of training workshops on Food Security Governance and conducts the final event with generous hosting support of the Ministry of Agriculture & Rural Development of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and co-funding support of Islamic Development Bank titled “Regional training workshop on strategic planning and policy development in food security” on 21-22 December 2022 in Abuja, Nigeria.
The key objective of the training is to build the capacity of government officials of OIC member states on basics and practices on strategy development, legislation improvement, creation of government inter-sectoral mechanisms (high-level council/commission) on food security. The event will be enriched by the experience of particular OIC countries in governing food security, the international good practices from various stakeholders, as well as discussions and group exercises for practicing the gained knowledge/experience.
OBJECTIVES
Main objective: Assisting OIC Member States in capacity-building of government agencies in strategic planning and policy development in food security.
Specific objectives:
PARTICIPANTS
The target group of training workshop participants will include representatives of government authorities of OIC member states that are involved in the development of policy frameworks and strategies in food security, such as legislators, strategy developers, policy analysts, program planners.
Member States to participate:
Niger, Mali, Senegal, Cote d'Ivoire, Benin, Togo, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Gabon, Guinea, Gambia, Nigeria, Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, Sierra Leone.
