FLOODING: NEMA DISTRIBUTES 12,000 METRIC TONS OF FOOD COMMODITIES TO VULNERABLE NIGERIANS

Nigerian Vanguard placed an article written by Fortune Eromosele that discussed about provision of food commodities to population suffered from flood across the 36 states. The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) rendered 12,000 metric ton of food aid from the National Strategic Reserve that was announced during the 2022 International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction event organized by NEMA.

The Agency has proceeded series of relief assistance to many states to support flood affected persons. The aid is intended to deliver to all suffered states but experienced issues in discharging commodities due to condition of the roads affected by flood.

Current flood situation in the country, as the National Emergency Management Agency stated, affected number of countries, 500 lives have been lost, property destroyed and a large number of persons displaced in some of the disaster hotspots.
