IOFS INITIATES JOINT TASK FORCE OF RELEVANT OIC INSTITUTIONS TO SUPPORT YOUNG AGRIPENEURS IN NIGER
10 August 2022

In follow-up of the bilateral meeting between Their Excellences Ms. Gourouza Magagi Salamatou, the Minister of Industry & Youth Entrepreneurship of the Republic of Niger, and Mr. Yerlan A. Baidaulet, the Director General of the Islamic Organization of Food Security (IOFS), held on 17 May 2022 as part of the latter’s official visit to Niger, the IOFS hosted the first virtual technical meeting with relevant Institutions of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on 10 August 2022 to establish a Joint Task Force to support young agripeneurs in Niger.

At the meeting, the IOFS was represented by Mr. Abdula Manafi Mutualo, Senior Liaison Officer, and Mr. Bakytzhan Arystanbek, Program Manager, and it was attended by Ms. Rabiatou Ahmadou, Senior Program Officer at Women Development Organization (WDO), Mr. Syed Saad Ali Pasha, Manager - Business Development at the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (ICCIA), and Mr. Sami Serdar, CEO, Young Business Hub at the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum (ICYF).

The Joint Task Force is to study the best options towards closely working with the Nigerien Ministry of Industry & Youth Entrepreneurship so as to improve the technological know-how of agricultural initiatives of young Nigeriens from rural areas, particularly young women, as their entrepreneurial spirit is being hampered by the archaic means that they have at their disposal. In fact, the Ministry is to be soon contacted to provide further details on the most important needs/challenges of their agripeneurs, which would therefore facilitate the decision-making mechanism on the part of the Joint Task Force.
