IOFS DG’S working meeting in UAE

On 20 April 2022, the Director General of IOFS H.E. Mr. Yerlan A. Baidaulet held the working meeting with the UAE Minister of Climate Change and Environment H.E. Mariam Almheiri in Dubai, UAE. The IOFS DG was accompanied by the Ambassador Daulet T. Yemberdiyev, Director of Cooperation & Humanitarian Aid Office and the General Consul of Kazakhstan, Mr. Rauan Zhumabek.
 
The Director General of IOFS discussed with the Minister H.E. Mariam Almheiri the aspects of close bilateral cooperation and elaborated on the current status of the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding and joint Action Plan between IOFS and UAE Government.
 
In particular, the representatives of the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE) were familiarized with the successful visit of the IOFS delegation to Afghanistan and exchanged views regarding the UAE’s support to the IOFS Afghanistan Food Security Programme. In addition, the sides reviewed the possibility of organizing the kick-off workshop on food security governance in Abu Dhabi in next May with the support of the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority. H.E. Mariam Almheiri was also invited to the upcoming IOFS High-Level Forum on Food Security to be organized by the IOFS and Kazakh National Agrarian Research University on 8-9 June 2022 in Almaty, Kazakhstan. It is to note that the mentioned events are in line with the said MoU between IOFS and UAE Government.
 
Considering the active work of IOFS for food security activities for African OIC countries as per the IOFS-2022 “Year of Africa”, the MOCCAE has been requested to support these activities, including through the UAE Foreign Aid. At the end, the sides agreed to strengthen the close cooperation and assure the regular communication between IOFS-UAE taskforce.
