Pakistan assists the poorest segments of its population during the pandemic

The Minister for National Food Security and Research of Pakistan Mr Syed Fakhar Imam announced that Pakistan provided emergency humanitarian assistance worth 8$ billion to its underprivileged parts of the population. This was achieved through Ehsaas Programme which utilized digital technologies and data. In Pakistan, malnourishment is a major public health issue that stagnates the economic and social development of the country. The government developed a few initiatives to fight malnutrition, hunger and poverty; those include investments in the green economy and infrastructure. Pakistan also plans to focus on capacity building of farmers and increasing access to and availability of high-value crops.
