Director-General of IOFS meets Ambassador of Kuwait

On August 20, 2020, Mr. Yerlan A. Baidaulet, Director-General of the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) held a follow-up meeting with His Excellency, Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr. Tarek Abdullah Al Faraj.

Kuwait is one of the influential member states of IOFS / OIC. At the meeting, there was a very lively discussion on current IOFS programs, such as: Strategic Commodities, Centers of Excellence on certain crops, National Gene banks, Regional Food Reserves, Water for Agriculture, General food safety and Halal food market, IFPA etc.

The Ambassador of Kuwait, in turn, showed great interest in implementation of the current programs, and also announced that he took part in the Online Workshop on development of national gene banks in OIC Member states, which took place on July 5-6, 2020.

During the conversation, the Director-General spoke in detail about programmes under development, such as IFPA (Islamic Food Processing Association), Water Use Efficiency; the issues of mandatory contribution payment and other forms of support were raised as well.

Mr. Tarek Abdullah Al Faraj assured that the State of Kuwait would actively support all programmes and initiatives of the IOFS Secretariat, aimed at improving food security in its member states.
