Climate Change Expert

Required Skills and Experience

Master’s Degree (or higher) in Climate Change, Agriculture and/or food security relation to Climate Change, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management or related field;

With BSc: Minimum 5 years of practical experience in thematic policy analysis and technical advisory services.


Firm command of the English language (written, spoken, comprehension);

Knowledge of French and Arabic would be an advantage; 


To have several publications on PR, media industry, journalist research, and investigations;

Duties & Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Director of Programmes & Projects Office, and working with the Program Managers, administers elements of technical cooperation program or specific Climate Change Program of limited complexity and execution of technical cooperation programs and activities.

Draft sections of Program documents such as Concept Notes and justification.

Follow up specific aspects of program execution, identify problems, and propose actions to expedite delivery of inputs.

Advise, or provide technical expertise in preparing climate change adaptation and/or mitigation studies and strategies.

Based on available and peer-reviewed literature, remote sensing data, and local data from national meteorological services, develop complete climate change rationales including a sound and accurate description of climate trends, projections, impacts, exposure, sensitivity, and vulnerability of agriculture fishery, forestry.

Provide advice on transformational, low-carbon, and climate-resilient pathways, and support the program in the identification of relevant indicators to measure attributable results;

As part of IOFS multidisciplinary teams, to written outputs such as the development of studies and technical annexes to funding proposals.

Support Program managers in screening and selecting options suitable to respond effectively to the climate scenario in support of climate change adaptation and mitigation.

Provide reviews on proposals in the fields of climate change adaptation and/or mitigation developed by IOFS for quality enhancement;

Work with staff and contractors to develop and implement social networking strategies, develop content, and monitor and respond to inquiries;

Write articles and testimonials for website and social media;

Manage website, including maintain the integrity of website content and structure;

Manage and execute email communications program, including quarterly e-newsletters, campaign messages, and fundraising e-appeals.
