The Director General of IOFS is received by the President of the Republic of Niger

The extraordinary cooperative relations between the Republic of Niger and Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) were highlighted at a very productive meeting that took place on May 17, 2023, where H.E. Prof. Yerlan Alimzhanuly Baidaulet, Director General of the IOFS, was received in audience by His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Bazoum, President of the Republic of Niger.



The Director General of IOFS emphasized the activities that the IOFS had conducted in Niger these recent years, which were intended to improve the technical capacity of Nigerien agencies and their specialists as well in neighboring IOFS/OIC member countries in various areas related to agricultural and rural development; in addition to improving the ongoing status of food security. He also took the opportunity to inform H.E. the President on the progress of the implementation of the “Integrated Water Resources Management Plan”, which the IOFS is carrying out in collaboration with specialized international partners.
To note, in 2020, during the meeting with the former President , special emphasis was given namely to the subject of water and its rational planning and utilization in agriculture.

The President of the Republic of Niger commended the efforts of the IOFS to support the countries of the Islamic world in improving food security, particularly in light of the current, particularly difficult context that is characterized by a variety of complicated and challenging issues.

Additionally, H.E. President Bazoum emphasized how crucial it is for all member countries and Organization of Islamic Cooperation ( OIC ) relevant institutions to provide the optimal conditions for the IOFS as the only OIC body specialized in food security and agriculture to properly carry out its mission and meet its noble goals. He also extended his sincere gratitude to the Republic of Kazakhstan, the IOFS’s hosting country, for the unwavering assistance the government provides in order to enable the organization to fulfill its mandate.
