IOFS Director General Holds High-Level Meetings in Niamey

The Director General of IOFS Prof. Yerlan Baidaulet held several high level meetings in Niamey, Niger. The first bilateral meeting was held with the President of the Niger Chamber of Commerce and Industry, HE Mr. Moussa Sidi Mohamed. 

The Director General provided a brief overview on the activities of the organization and implementation of the main programs. Prof. Baidaulet also emphasized the crucial role the subsidiary of IOFS, International IFPA, plays in fostering intra-OIC commerce as well as the opportunities of developing the food processing and agro-business industries within the OIC Geography. 

The President of the NCCI acknowledged the importance of the IOFS in ensuring food security in the OIC Member States, as well as the strong position IFPA holds in promoting the private sector and partnerships among member states, and conveyed an immediate interest in joining the IFPA and signing the honorary membership agreement. Both sides agreed to collaborate in order to improve Niger's food processing sector, particularly the transformation of meat industry.

The Director General continued his working visit with a meeting with Mr. Tidjani Idrissa, the Minister of livestock of Niger. The parties made plans to organize an online meeting to prepare a joint cooperation program to develop livestock and dairy production in Niger. The bilateral meetings continued for the IOFS Delegation with H.E. Dr Abba Issa Alambédji, Minister of Agriculture of Niger, where discussions were launched on developing cooperation in the field of wheat, gene bank, Food balance database, and water resources management.
