IOFS Continues Rounds of Working Meetings with Senior State Representatives in Niger

In a new round of working visits, H.E. Director General Prof. Yerlan Baidaulet held an exchange with H.E. Ouhoumoudou Mahamadou, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Niger. Within the framework of the meeting, several cooperation prospects were discussed in the realm of food security, agriculture, livestock and water resources, specifically in the development of livestock/meat value chains, as well as prsopects for enhancing the wheat value chain.

H.E. Prof. Baidaulet reaffirmed the commitment of IOFS to collaborate with the Republic of Niger, and emphasized that the Republic of Niger, for the second consecutive year, marks the beginning of the programs and activities of the IOFS linked to Africa. In addition, the Director General informed the Prime Minister about the state of the progress of the Integrated Water Resources Plan, that the IOFS is conducting in Niger in collaboration with specialized partner institutions. In conclusion, H.E. Prof. Baidaulet expressed his wish for Niger and IOFS to continue strengthening joint collaboration through the various programs and activities the organization provides. 

The round of meetings concluded with a meeting with H.E. Mr. Hassoumi Massoudou, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Niger. The IOFS delegation provided a brief overview of the mission of the IOFS and and update on the main activities and programs conducted in Member States. Following the brief, H.E. Prof. Baidaulet proceeded to inform the Minister about the last mandates attributed to IOFS by the 49th CFM, held in Nouakchott, Mauritania in March 2023. H.E. Prof. Baidaulet highlighted the determination of the IOFS to support the Republic of Niger develop the huge potential the country possesses in the field of livestock. 

To note, the sides also discussed the establishment of a joint Task Force that will focus on the priorities emphasized by Niger in its Strategy: Livestock, Water, Wheat.
