The schedule of H.E. Prof. Yerlan Baidaulet on Friday 2nd of December, the 3rd day of his working visit to Khartoum, Republic of Sudan, was dedicated to informal meetings with large Agricultural and Food industry Sudanese Companies, including Mahgoub Sons Group, CTC Group, Zadna International Investment Co. Ltd, and ALKADARO Company, one of the subsidiaries of Export Development Group.
H.E. Director General and his delegation were able to learn and exchange knowledge about the competitive advantage of the Republic of Sudan as well its potential and opportunities of the Sudanese private sector, particularly in terms of production of key agricultural commodities, such as livestock, cotton, sorghum, sunflowers, sesame, and others, besides the food processing and agricultural machinery.
In light of this, and in order to ensure Sudan's food self-sufficiency, the DG of the IOFS underlined, in his discussions with private sector entrepreneur hosts, the importance of continuous investment in the value chain in order to increase return value while maintaining sustainable practices and partnerships with key strategic players. He also urged the private sector to join the International Islamic Food Processing Association (IFPA), which is considered an appropriate platform for all OIC agri&food sectors, in order to boost intra-OIC commerce and take advantage of its benefits.
