POTENTIAL JOINT WORK ON AFGHANISTAN HUMANITARIAN ASSISTANCE AGREED WITH ICRC
15 November 2022
On 15 November 2022, a Team of the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) composed of Mr. Abdula Manafi Mutualo, Senior Liaison Officer, and Mr. Sofian Ben Mouaddeb, CPO Senior Manager, virtually met with Mr. Eloi Fillion, Head of Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Afghanistan, to explore potential cooperation in the implementation of some of the immediate projects that the IOFS is expected to implement within the framework of the “Afghanistan Food Security Programme (AFSP)”, as mandated by the 17th Extraordinary CFM on the Humanitarian Situation in Afghanistan, held on 18-19 December 2021, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

During the meeting, Mr. Manafi made a presentation to highlight the IOFS efforts in AFSP implementation and exchanged views on how some of the important work ICRC is undertaking in Afghanistan overlapped with IOFS’, particularly projects related with food security and agriculture.

In such vein, the two sides dwelled on ways and means towards synergizing their work and agreed to exchange relevant documents and information towards designing the bilateral strategic partnership that may lead into a memorandum of understanding and plan of action in near future, initially in Afghanistan with the expectation to expand to other common Member States.
