On Nov. 28 IOFS delegate Mrs. Rufiya Ospanova took part in the conference on sustainable development of agriculture in the conditions of climate change organised jointly by “German-Kazakh Agrarian and Political Dialogue” project and National Agrarian Scientific and Education Centre. The conference aimed to discuss the influence of climate change on agriculture. Representatives of Kazakh Ministry of Agriculture, diplomatic corps, higher educational institutions addressed the audience.
Such important components of food security as the development of stress-resilient crops, adaptation to climate change, the effect of climate change on yield and food availability were among the top discussed issues of the event. Academia provided brief training to the event participants about soil tillage, irrigation, plant growing, soil analysis, etc. Forest preservation and expansion were disclosed as another important area for development and as an important factor in environmental protection.
