IOFS PARTICIPATED IN CLIMATE CHANGE WORKSHOP IN ISLAMABAD

On June 13, 2022 Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) participated in the workshop organized by Faith for Our Planet (FFOP) in cooperation with
Iqbal International Institute of Research and Dialogue in in Iqbal International Institute for Research and Dialogue at International Islamic University, Islamabad, Pakistan.

The workshop titled  ‘United for shared responsibility in climate change’ was devoted to the climate change challenges with special emphasis on clean drinking water. The event presents a unique forum designed to facilitate a collaboration between scientific and religious leadership to discuss major environmental issues.

IOFS was represented by its Director of Programs and project office, Dr. Ismail AbdelHamid, who provided an informative presntation in the plenary session on climate change and water in agriculture. During the speech Dr. AbdelHamid conveyed the greeting message from IOFS Director General H.E. Yerlan A. Baidaulet and stressed on the vitality of water as a main pillar in agriculture. Furthermore, IOFS Program Director noted that 75% of the world’s fresh water was utilized by the agriculture sector. The challenge for us is to not only preserve our water but also to educate the people to conserve water, he added.

Additionally, IOFS representative has reviewed IOFS vision on development of the sector through applying advanced technologies in irrigation among OIC Member countries, devise a holistic policy to introduce new solutions for agriculture sector for less water usage and sustainable growth.
