Director General of IOFS held meetings with high officials of Kingdom of Bahrain

On November 4, Director General held meetings with several high government officials of the Kingdom of Bahrain. He spoke to Ambassador Tawfeeq Al Mansoor, Assistant Undersecretary for Western Countries & Afro-Asian Affairs from Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Director General asked to process the issue of Bahrain’s membership as an official request, discussed mandatory country contributions and benefits of the membership. Mr. Al Mansoor agreed to facilitate these processes if the department of Agriculture Affairs supported the institution.



On his side, the Undersecretary for Agriculture and Marine Resources, Dr. Nabeel Mohammed Abdulfateh endorsed all projects and initiatives of IOFS, such as IT Database, IFPA, Strategic Commodities Action Plan, Grain Fund, Regional Food Reserves, Halal food market and other. Dr. Nabeel emphasized the importance of Islamic solidarity in creation of a joint agricultural market among OIC member countries and kindly requested the necessary documentation, including information on mandatory contributions for Bahrain. The Assistant Undersecretary for Agriculture Affairs from Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning, Dr. Abdul-Aziz Mohamed Abdul-Kareem has also been present at the meeting.



Director General also spoke to Mr. Adnan Ahmed Yousif, President & Chief Executive of Al Baraka Banking Group, which is one of the largest Islamic banking conglomerates. Mr. Adnan expressed strong interest in development of close relationship with IOFS and supported its initiatives of IFPA, Strategic Commodity Forum and Grain Waqf Fund. Mr. Adnan agreed to take part in all social and private sector related programs of IOFS.
