Support for Suriname’s pineapple sector: UN Joint SDG Fund approves 3ADI+ proposal

An article published on the FAO website related about United Nations Joint Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Fund’s award program that will benefit Surinam’s indigenous communities, youth and women aimed to develop Suriname’s pineapple business.

The initiative, that developed jointly by four UN agencies and Surinamese pineapple value chain stakeholders will enable local farmers in the pineapple value chain to boost productivity and expand market access through providing technical assistance, facilitating access to credit and de-risk investments.

Surinam as one of the pineapples birthplace embraces number of unique varieties have been grown up by indigenous community over centuries. The program allows to create sustainable production chain while empowering farmers with the special attention to young people and female entrepreneurs.
