Working visit to the Aerospace industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan (Kazakhstan Gharysh Sapary)

On April 05, 2022, the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) representatives visited the Aerospace industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan (Kazakhstan Gharysh Sapary -KGS) to discuss establishing a satellite-based agricultural database and monitoring system.

A team of IOFS, headed by Director General H.E. Yerlan Baidaulet, Director of Programs and Project Office Dr. Ismail Abdelhamid, and Program Manager A H M Kamruzzaman attended the bilateral meeting with the Chairman of KGS, as well as other experts from the Aerospace Committee, Kazakhstan Gharysh Sapary (KGS). 
An in-depth discussion on how to monitor surface water resources, crops, forests, floods, land use, and what is applied to agricultural research was presented by the expert team of the Aerospace industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
H.E. Yerlan Baidaulet, Director General of IOFS, noted that cooperation with the KGS in all areas covering food security would strengthen with a particular focus on the IOFS Year of Africa program to support African member states of IOFS.
During the meeting, Mr. Aidyn Aimbetov proposed to monitor the drought-affected area, surface water, and transboundary pests (locusts) of African countries.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to develop a satellite based agricultural database and build a better prediction system for agriculture.
