IOFS Hands Over “OASIS Boxes” for Drinking Water Filtration to Afghanistan’s Ministry in-Charge of Agriculture

As part of his humanitarian visit to Afghanistan, His Excellency Mr. Yerlan Baidaulet, Director General of the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS), on 17 April 2022, presided over the official ceremony delivering six (6) Oasis Boxes for water cleaning and filtration produced and supplied by Bondh E Shams to Afghan People.

 
On the receiving side was H.E. Mr. Abdul Rahman Rashid, Minister in-charge of Agriculture & Livestock of Afghanistan, accompanied by the entourage of his Ministry team, who also listened to a presentation by the CEO of Bondh E Shams, Mr. Hamza Farukh, on how the aforesaid boxes were produced, worked and which technology were using to provide fresh and drinkable water to people suffering from scarcity of that precious liquid. In fact, the Ministry, while welcoming the important gesture by the IOFS, committed itself to identify six most water scarce villages to benefit from this pioneering IOFS project that is being implemented within the framework of Afghanistan Food Security Program (AFSP), as mandated by 17th Extraordinary Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers on the Situation in Afghanistan, held on 19 December 2021 in Islamabad, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
During the iftar hosted by IOFS the presence of H.E. Mr. Abdul Rahman Rashid was seized for yet another productive bilateral meeting on strengthening relations between the IOFS and his Ministry, particularly on matters that are relevant for food security and agricultural development of Afghanistan and involvement of Afghan experts in such efforts, including by participating in IOFS initiated events on food security governance, gene banks, etc, as well as the commitment in implementing of Food Security Reserve within the OIC mandated framework.
