8th OIC-StatCom Session launched at SESRIC HQ

On October 23, the 8th Session of OIC-StatCom started its 2-day activity at the headquarters of the SESRIC.
At the opening of the event H.E. Mr. Nebil Dabur, SESRIC Director General, noted ne importance of reliable and up-to-date information and strengthening of technical statistical capacity. 
Honorable guest, H.E. Mrs. Zehra Zumrut Selcuk, Minister of Family, Labor and Social Services of Turkey underlined the need that arose in 2011 to establish the OIC-StatCom and which brings valuable results in improving statistics. 
Mrs. Rufiya Ospanova, IOFS Country and Project Manager (on Asia and Africa) took part at the event to set up strategic partnership with SESRIC and other stakeholders in providing reliable statistical data on the analytical system of the IOFS, which is being currently elaborated with Datanomix experts in analysis and IT systems. On the sidelines of the event an agreement was reached to exchange up-to-date data on a mutual basis. 
The OIC-StatCom is a platform for National Statistics Organizations (NSO) of OIC member states for sharing knowledge and exchanging best practices and experience with a view to enhancing their technical capacities which are needed for producing high quality national statistics while being guided by the objectives and principles to strengthen solidarity and cooperation among the Member States as set forth in the 11th Islamic Summit held in Dakar in 2008. 

The 8th Session discusses the following main topics:

 - Electronic Data Collection Technologies in Population and Housing Censuses;

 - Census of Agriculture for the 21st Century; and

 - Developing National Statistics Systems on International Labour Migration.
