IOFS VISIT TO QATAR HAS STARTED WITH IMPORTANT MEETINGS

On February 13, 2022 IOFS delegation led by the Director General HE Mr. Yerlan A. Baidaulet within the framework of the joint Forum on the Development of Strategic Commodities and the Food Safety has started a four-day visit to the state of Qatar, Doha. At the first day of the visit IOFS Director General was received by CEO of the Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS), HE Mr. Faisal Al Emadi.

During the meeting HE Mr. Yerlan Baidaulet provided an overarching overview on IOFS key strategic vision, activities and mission. Other highlights during the meeting included discussing IOFS activities in Food Crisis Response, urgency of identifying emergencies to provide social safety nets and humanitarian assistance to stabilize food insecurity situation in Afghanistan and supporting the country through the implementation of the Afghanistan Food Security Program (AFSP) under the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers mandate. Also some key points about Year of Africa and related activities in African MCs were particularly discussed during the meeting.

Mr. Faisal Al Emadi noted that QRCS as Qatar's first volunteering charitable organization works to help and empower vulnerable individuals and communities.  Cooperation on a wide range of activities through AFSP and representative office in Kabul will provide institutional support in resource mobilization for the country.

The following meeting was held with CEO of the Qatar Investment Authority, HE Mr. Mansoor Bin Ebrahim Al-Mahmoud. After brief introduction about IOFS food trade and investment-related activities parties discussed about IOFS ventures as IFPA, Grain Fund, National Food Sectors Development and Livestock Ecosystem which includes the Sheep Farming Fund that are considered as important statutory objectives aiming to be an essential instrument in humanitarian, social and economic dimensions and would provide sustainable solutions to develop B2B connection of OIC agri-food sector.
