On December 23, 2021, a monthly working meeting was held between the IOFS Director General H.E. Baidaulet Y.A. and H.E. Mr. Y.Sh. Karashukeyev, the Chairman of the IOFS General Assembly, Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan
At the dialogue, concrete topics relating to the IOFS's activities were discussed, and the IOFS Director General has updated on the status of several of 16 strategic programs.
Furthermore, the parties focused on the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan, the importance of all member states' active participation in implementing the Afghanistan Food Security Programme and the key role of IOFS in this regard , as mandated by the 17th Extraordinary OIC CFM session in Islamabad.
They also debated how to activate a pilot initiative to establish a Regional Food Security Reserve (with Humanitarian effect for Afghanistan) and launch the Grain Fund in 2022. These two programs would help to build a sustainable regional food security mechanism and lay the foundation for effective response to future humanitarian disasters or food shortages in the region.
In conclusion, parties agreed on the need for periodic meetings to coordinate joint efforts and monitor the effective implementation of the decisions taken.
