THE 8TH EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING OF THE ISLAMIC ORGANIZATION FOR FOOD SECURITY

On December 8, 2021, the members of the IOFS Executive Board held the next biannual meeting to review the implementation of the IOFS strategic initiatives. Following the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, the Director-General of IOFS H. E. Yerlan Baidaulet presented the report of the IOFS Secretariat and incremental activities of the OIC food security agenda for the period covering from June 2021 to December 2021.

The Executive Board reviewed IOFS 2031 Ten Years Strategic Plan which determines the vision with focus upon global trends with essential impacts on food security systems.

Furthermore, the Executive Board reviewed the outcomes of 8th OIC Ministerial Conference on Food Security and Agricultural Development held on October 2021, Turkey which agenda were directly devoted to IOFS areas of accountability, where among others the OIC Programmes of Action on the Development of Strategic Agricultural Commodities and the OIC Food Security Reserve System defined as the foremost assignments that IOFS was requested to implement.

IOFS entities as IFPA, Grain Fund and Halal Platform venture were considered as important statutory objectives that can be an essential instrument in humanitarian, social and economic dimensions and would provide sustainable solutions to develop B2B connection of OIC agri-food sector.
Another important point of discussion was devoted to roadmap formation to enable robust food security system of Africa, furthermore, IOFS plans to hold the 5th General Assembly in upcoming 2022 in Africa provide incremental value in scaling-up and advancing Africa’s food security capacities.
