IOFS and CILSS Agree on Action Plan to be Implemented in 2022
03 December 2021
In order to operationalize a memorandum of understanding signed in 2019, the Islamic Organization of Food Security (IOFS) and the Permanent Interstate Committee for Drought Control in the Sahel (CILSS) held a technical virtual meeting on 03 December 2021.

The CILSS was represented by His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Abdellahi Ebbe, its Director General, and a number of officials expert in fields of water management in agriculture, food security governance, food balance database, and transboundary pest control management, who made extensive presentation on their respective fields of responsibility. The IOFS delegation, on its side, was led by Dr. Ismail Abdelhamid, Director of Programmes and Projects Office, who was assisted by IOFS Staff responsible for the areas under reference.

Among the main decisions of the meeting was that an initial draft of the Joint Action Plan is to be drafted and finalized online to allow implementation of joint activities in the agreed areas of cooperation throughout 2022, particularly, considering that it would be “IOFS Year of Africa”. Once approved, the proposed Joint Action Plan is to be signed by the two Directors General of IOFS, His Excellency Mr. Yerlan Baidaulet, and CILSS.
