The Director-General of IOFS participated in Cairo Water Week

On 24 October 2021, the Director-General of IOFS H.E., Mr. Yerlan A. Baidaulet, participated in the opening ceremony and the High-Level event on policy dialogue in water scare countries for achieving SDGs UN-WATER  in the Cairo Water Week (CWW).

It is well known that the Cairo Water Week (CWW) started in  2018 as an annual event and is now considered one of the most significant water-related events in Africa and the Middle East, bringing together a broad range of high-level officials, experts, and other stakeholders to discuss the most recent trends related to water resources management. On this occasion, the IOFS Director General met briefly with H.E. AbdelHakeem Alwaer, FAO Assistant Director General, and discussed the cooperation opportunities between the two organizations. H.E. Mr. Yerlan A. Baidaulet was interviewed by national and regional TV channels covering the IOFS vision on water management in agriculture.

On the same day,  the Director-General of IOFS H. E., Mr. Yerlan A. Baidaulet, visited the Headquarters of League of Arab States and met with Dr. Gamal Eldin Gab Allah, Director of the water resources sector and Dr. Hammu Lamrani, an expert on Water Arab council. Dr. Lamrani discussed the cooperation between the Arab League and several international and regional organizations, including FAO and IsDB. The IOFS Director General explained the importance of joint water-related activities and how we all face them. The Water hub workshop was considered one of the most important ways to give hands-on training for IOFS water experts from member countries. Both parties agreed to conduct an online meeting between the relevant Arab League organizations (AOAD and AAAID)  and IOFS to discuss and prepare the draft bilateral MOU and respective Action plan.
