Fourth General Assembly of IOFS is taking place in Kazakhstan

The two-day Fourth General Assembly of the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) commenced work in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan on September 8, 2021. The event will run online from 8th to 9th September with the technical support of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In line with the agenda, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Mrs. Ayşe Ayşin Işikgece opened the session with welcoming remarks. After the adoption of the agenda and working programme, Mrs. Işikgece transferred the chairmanship of Turkey to Kazakhstan for a period of one year.

The new Chairman of the Senior Officials Meeting, the Vice Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan Mr. Ruslan Manatayev spoke: "Under the upcoming chairmanship in the IOFS, the Republic of Kazakhstan will continue to fulfil the previously set multifaceted and pressing tasks, at the same professional level."

His Excellency Mr. Yerlan Baidaulet, the Director-General of the Islamic Organization for Food Security expressed gratitude to the Republic of Turkey for its leadership and support during the past year and to the Republic of Kazakhstan for hosting this event.

During the session, the participants reviewed the following items:

1. Report on the IOFS activities for the past year
2. Membership and International Cooperation
3. Finance and Governance
4. Progress Review of the IOFS 16 Programmes
5. Follow up on Resolutions of the 2nd and 3rd meetings of the General Assembly
6. Strategic Vision of IOFS 2031.
7. Other institutional matters
8. Adoption of the Report of Senior Officials Meeting and Draft Resolutions

By the end of the session, the participants approved the Report of the Senior Officials Meeting and the Draft Resolutions for adoption at the upcoming ministerial session to be held on September 9. Over 150 people took part in the first session of the General Assembly.
