Meeting on Preliminary Discussion of the First Meeting of Regional Center of Excellence for Cassava

On August 4, 2021, the Islamic Organization for Food Security gathered Zoom meeting on Preliminary Discussion of the First Meeting of Regional Center of Excellence for Cassava focusing on African Sub-Group 2 countries, such as Benin, Cote d’Ivoire, Togo, Senegal and Guinea.

The meeting was attended by representatives of Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Nigeria, National Root Crop Research Institution and Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria. The meeting was facilitated by the IOFS Manager of the Program Dr. Shahlo Atabaeva and Assistant Raushan Kumekbayeva. 

During the meeting participants shared experience of national and institutional collaboration on development of Cassava production and value chain, as well as researches and growing technologies, and the organization of the First Meeting of Regional CoE for Cassava, including existing experience in establishing the Centers of Excellence, draft program and agenda of the event, preparation of a draft Memorandum of Understanding with research institute and tentative Action Plan and others were discussed.

Participants agreed to hold a regular meeting in weekly base and the second meeting on 11 August 2021.
