On July 22, 2021, in Moscow, Russian Federation, at the headquarters of the EEC, a solemn ceremony of signing a Memorandum of Understanding between the Islamic Organization for Food Security and the Eurasian Economic Commission took place. The event was attended by representatives of the diplomatic missions of the EEC member countries: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Armenia and Belarus, as well as the IOFS member countries: Iran, Tajikistan, Tunisia, Qatar and Kuwait.

In the speeches of the parties, it was noted that the Memorandum to be signed is based on the correlating tasks of two organizations: the development of the agro-industrial sector and ensuring the food security of the participating countries, through a coordinated policy, mechanisms for regulating the development of agriculture, increasing the competitiveness of agri-food exports, unifying standards, increasing food safety. products, development of biotechnology.

Within the framework of the ceremony, a bilateral meeting of the Director General of the IOFS Yerlan Baidaulet with the Minister of the EEC for Industry and Agroindustrial Complex Artak Kamalyan took place. The parties stressed the importance and significance of the document being signed, since the established cooperation opens up new opportunities, expands borders and markets. Today, the IOFS includes 36 countries, from 56 OIC countries, including the EEC member countries like Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, EEC partners like Uzbekistan, Iran, Egypt, Bangladesh. The partnership of two reputable international organizations will allow mobilizing and doubling resources, achieving a high-quality and sustainable rise in the agro-industrial sector, leading to an increase in the welfare and food security of the participating countries.
