IOFS and Ministry of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan interested in cooperation

Representatives of the Islamic Organisation for Food Security (IOFS) headed by Director General Mr. Yerlan Baidaulet held a meeting with the Vice Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mr. Kairat Torebaev. During the meeting, parties discussed the possibilities of cooperation within the international Islamic Food Processing Association – IFPA. Furthermore, they conversed about the development of trade and economic cooperation between the OIC Member States, as well as, promoting Halal food standards and export development. Within the framework of strategic cooperation, further development of bilateral relations in the following areas is planned:
- work within the IFPA program, with overall support from the Ministry of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan;
- possibility of signage of Memorandum of Understanding with JSC «Center for Trade Policy Development «QazTrade» regarding promotion of Halal food standards and export development, including the promotion of Halal export brand;
- Kazakhstan plans to open a network of wholesale distribution centers in Central Asia for product export and invites IOFS to work together by strengthening food security in countries of Central Asia and in future, countries of OIC through the creation of a single window for agricultural producers and increase in mutual trade;
- possibility of holding joint events in the first half of 2020 (working groups, seminars, and conferences) aimed at development of trade and agro-industry of OIC countries.
