On November 02, 2022, the Director of Programs and Projects Office, Dr. Ismail Abdelhamid and Ms. Rasha Al-Juhaini, program manager in Bio-AgriTech Development, and Mr. Abdelaziz HAJJAJI Program manager in Transboundary pest control and climate change visited the National Biotechnology Center (NCB) in Astana, Kazakhstan and met Prof. Yerlan M. Ramankulov, Director General of the NCB.
During this meeting, Dr. Ismail Abdelhamid presented an overview of the activities of IOFS concerning biotechnology and climate change in agriculture and the importance of establishing Genbank for plants and livestock for OIC-MC in Astana.
Prof. Ramankulov led IOFS representatives on a visit to agriculture-related laboratories, such as Plants Biotechnology and Breeding Laboratory, which among its activities, the development of new forms of cereal and potato plant-resistant to unfavourable abiotic and biotic factors of the environment through the use of biotechnological methods and Laboratory of Molecular Biotechnology and Applied Genetics which works on the Complete genome sequencing of bacteria and viruses beside detection of genetic variation.
